Dj Gee Funk Dj Bio From a very young age I was always interested in music, from the age of 17 I purchased my first set of Technic 1210’s and so I began to experiment with different styles of dance music. I was living in London in the early 90`s when the dance scene started and so my addiction of dance music started. After a few years of Djing in my bedroom and at friends’ parties my style began to lean towards House and UK Garage. The UK Garage scene in London grew and by the mid 90`s was dominating most of the London club scene. I started having guest slots on pirate radio stations and regular slots at various night clubs around the north east of London, but not being happy with playing one style of music I found myself turning to house and trance with me following Dj`s such as Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and Pete Tong. I moved to Plymouth for a few years where I met Jim `TC` and Steve Bell who both owned a record shop in town call Needle to the Groove and jointly owned a nightclub called the Candystore. The Candystore was, for me, the best club in Plymouth. After a few months I started to work alongside Jim `TC` helping with promoting the club and I became the clubs lighting technician, which for me at this time was the best job ever because I got to work and become friends of some of the greatest Dj`s around the world. Now I’m based in South Wales, I started work at liquid and life nightclub in heart of Cardiff which was at this point was Cardiff’s first Superclub, open 7 nights a week and catered for all aspects of music from chart, r’n’b and of course dance. Working at the club I got the opportunity to work with and help promote some of the biggest club events in the UK, such as Cream, Slinky, Sundissential and L`America (dance scene) and Fresh City (r’n’b scene) with regular outside radio broadcasts with Kiss 101 fm and BBC 1xtra. 2005 gave me the opportunity to help manage my first festival for the Fresh City arena in Swansea with Escape into the Park with over 25,000 mad clubbers! I worked at Liquid for over 3 years before I moved to Evolution nightclub in Cardiff Bay. I spent 2 years at evolution which was Cardiff’s only designated dance venue with monthly club events from Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Time Flies and Bionic. I also dj`ed at R-Bar which was the pre-bar for the main club. Since evolution I have continued to Dj in clubs across the country and promote events nationwide, I`ve worked with some of the biggest names in event promotions and the biggest names in the Dj`ing world. Today you`ll find me djing at the Housaholics , Evo and Liquid brands around wales and the south west. 46 years old and still going strong. I think I`ll always thrive for more...... Dj Gee Funk
