Hi Everyone . I like to introduce myself to all music lovers: DJBEAR a.k.a DJBERKAND “Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how Berkand describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s eclectic combination of Rock N Roll music (Elvis Presley,The Beatles), European pop stars (Mina, Julio Iglesias, Adriano Celentano), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both disco, jazz and soft rock music, Berkand ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat. A very active member of Deep House community, Berkand is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of a small-town music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer, amateur pianist, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically. I've been into dance music since the 80s and have been lucky enough to be involved in the scene for many years. I still love mixing and am now starting to produce my own tracks. Firstly break dance and boogaloo made me excited, later music and the Dj desktop. In the past 18 years being a Dj and a radio presenter used to be my life. In the ’90s hip hop, funk, soul and break battle music and parties described my career as both Dj and Mc and as a hobby dancing and freestyle rap. Between 2000 and 2002 my then Dj team and I won the DMC Dj Hungarian contest twice and in 2002 we performed at Brixton Academy in London during the World Championship. Besides I have been a Dj at national and international festivals and I worked for an American-owned record shop and this is how I developed my musical repertoire. I have got to know all kinds of styles from jazz to progressive music. At present I am preparing my mixes in several styles from chill out to breakbeat. My mixes can be heard in some countries such as the Greek beach officially for a place called Blue and White. During the parties I am making an effort to ease people as much as I can and to take out the happy and free feelings. (R.I.P.) ; Came back to Texas and Some how wound up at the Winter Music Conference in 2001( Havent been the same since) I got the opportunity to visit the Shelter in NYC 2002 LOST ;MY ;MIND!
