DJBERKAND
DJBERKAND

Hi Everyone . I like to introduce myself to all music lovers: DJBEAR a.k.a DJBERKAND “Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how Berkand describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s eclectic combination of Rock N Roll music (Elvis Presley,The Beatles), European pop stars (Mina, Julio Iglesias, Adriano Celentano), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both disco, jazz and soft rock music, Berkand ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat. A very active member of Deep House community, Berkand is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of a small-town music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer, amateur pianist, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically. He is also a resident Dj at both; http://www.radiodeepsound.com https://www.house-mixes.com/profile … “For me, it’s all about mood and a deep, hypnotic groove… playing those tracks that get you tapping your feet and nodding your head without you realizing it, regardless of genre, tempo, style, or release date. “

I was born in Quebec, Canada. Very young, I developed an interest in dance music, it was always the most rhythmic songs that held my attention on the radio. My first 12 '' I bought was “Love Is In Control” by Donna Summer in 1982, but it was in 1987 that I really started my vinyl collection at a store named Import-O-Son where I also learned the basis of DJing. In 1988 I bought my first mixer that I connected with two family’s turntables. In 1990, I bought my own sound system and my own turntables, I was then addicted. In 1991, I began my series of mix tape called Martymix. I was selling for the bargain price of... $7. I also started my short DJ career; I was doing occasional replacement in a club for teenagers. I also made some mobile disco parties, my biggest being the Christmas party of policemen and firefighter of Quebec City. In 1994, a fire severely damaged my vinyl collection and my sound system. Also, having to start from scratch ended my DJ aspirations. I did get the opportunity to work with Beaugarte’s DJ Christian Pelletier in Ste-Foy. I remember once on a Monday night when there was a lot more customers than usual, I was requisitioned to play music to people who wanted to dance (there was never a DJ or dance on Mondays). This was my last live performance. I eventually returned to school in computer science and started my real career in life. In 2012, being nostalgic of DJing, I bought a small iDJ console to get back in the "beat", but it was not until early 2014 that I really got to work producing a mix of my favorite 50 songs of the year 2013. I then got the idea of reproducing my Martymix tapes with my console, and later launched my series club-a-holic to get in today’s sounds. Although today's technologies greatly facilitate the work of the DJ, I always have great pleasures behind my console and my computer trying to create the best transitions for my listeners.

Addicted to music since the age of 15, listening to it, playing it, and enjoying it to the fullest! I took my first steps in the world of free radio with music styles such as New Wave, New Beat, and later more danceable styles such as Garage, Disco, Soul, and Funk. My music style produced the necessary decibels through many speakers in living rooms, organized parties, and discotheques/clubs. Music is enjoyment, freedom, and carefreeness that I want to share with many listeners as fellow DJs.

Please do me a solid and like, comment, and follow if you enjoy what you find here... you'd be amazed how much those numbers matter when it comes time to book a dj to travel! For bookings and collab contact: text US#860 951-9181 or DM on Instagram @djspeakerofthehouse fb: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561927756241 Soundcloud.com/jocelyn_silver I am Speaker of the House and I did it all because of house music. Playing nearly every style of house and some styles that are just house adjacent enough to make the cut, I am a curator, a painter, and a docent for House Music, classic and destined to become classic! Playing filthy raves, upscale House music clubs, "speakeasy" after hours and large local indoor and outdoor festivals for about 14 years or so, throughout New England, I've finally started to be offered fly-out gigs and would love to expand my geographic reach! I'm looking to spread the house love, not get rich off event promoters so i work on the price if there's any cost of travel and yes, i'll crash on your couch instead of a hotel if you bring me to your area! As you can tell from my edits, i'm very new to production, so be gentle when you comment on my edits!
