Owner/Disc Jockey/MC Paul Cassella started as disc jockey at the young age of 12. He received a setup for Christmas that year and got to work. 2 tape decks, 2 cd players, a 4 channel mixer and microphone. Since then he always been playing music. DJ JD has spent the past two decades building an impressive resume by immersing himself in the club and private event sectors. He developed his love of DJ’ing through the versatile musical influences whilst growing up. He couldn't wait to get behind the decks and put into practice what he had learned. Starting his career as a DJ rocking the house parties back in Johannesburg - South Africa, he explored various styles and genres with a focus on dance, hip hop and RnB. JD began creating his own fusion of house and party vibes for clubs and private venues whilst executing demands of the dance floors. I like to introduce myself to all music lovers: DJBEAR a.k.a DJBERKAND “Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how Berkand describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s eclectic combination of Rock N Roll music (Elvis Presley,The Beatles), European pop stars (Mina, Julio Iglesias, Adriano Celentano), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both disco, jazz and soft rock music, Berkand ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence.
