Hi Everyone . I like to introduce myself to all music lovers: DJBEAR a.k.a DJBERKAND “Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how Berkand describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s eclectic combination of Rock N Roll music (Elvis Presley,The Beatles), European pop stars (Mina, Julio Iglesias, Adriano Celentano), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both disco, jazz and soft rock music, Berkand ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat. A very active member of Deep House community, Berkand is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of a small-town music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer, amateur pianist, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically. I was used to be a club dj from 1977 until 1991.No radios and others public demonstrations.Started in a small club named "La Soffitta" working 6 nights a week, in summer 1979 landed at "La Terrazza", after that at "China Club" for winter season.So on for two years until the 1982 summer when I worked at "Terminal" with other two italian well known dj's.After six years, music and people's taste for dance music has changed: the explosion of Italo-Disco convinced me to end my experience as a resident dj to dedicate myself to creating remix, record lacquer and tapes for other djs and doing few events a month at the request of club managers around Emilia-Romagna.To be continued...
