DJ Problem Child was born in the UK where his love for music started with Michael Jackson but grew up in Trinidad in the 1980s. By then he mainly listened to Dancehall and especially Hip Hop. Such as NWA, Public Enemy & Ice T etc. He moved back to England in 1991 when he was 11 and was handed a tape, Top Buzz @ Eclipse 'The Highlander' - the event of which The Eclipse Nightclub in Coventry had held in Scotland. This blew him away because this was not only a Coventry promotion who had staged this event, but he also lived just very near the club itself, and he loved the sound Top Buzz were playing because it was a mixture of Hip Hop breaks with Reggae vocals and loved the energy of the music. After this and listening to Ratty @ 'Dance Nation' tape he was hooked, listening to dj's like Jumping Jack Frost, Fabio, Grooverider, Mickey Finn, Randall but his main influences and who are still his favourtie dj's to this day were Doc Scott, Ratty & LTJ Bukem. During the period when he was at school in the 1990s, he was always spending his pocket money on tapes at Bangin Tunes, Revive & Spinadisc, and then he started to collect records and flyers (he had every flyer you could think of until someone decided to bin them all once when moving house, argh!) but he was never djing. He just loved listening to the tapes and in 1994 he started buying records. When Problem Child was 16, he went to his first rave; Helter Skelter 'Imagination' on New Years Eve 1996 at The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes. It was everything he could dream of with loads of his favorite dj's & mc's playing and he was raving non stop from 1997 onwards he was raving non stop, attending parties such as Dreamscape, Slammin Vinyl, Helter Skelter, Hysteria, One Nation, Flashback to name a few. By 2000 he decided to buy a pair of decks because by this point he had quite a large record collection, and in 2002 he had his first gig at one of Coventry's well known local events; No Wet Weed. He also went onto play at Safe + Sound which was a weekly event at Platform 5 doing Drum & Bass and Hardcore where he met Noizee B, who had also just started playing out and was only 15 years old and still in school, they both had similar tastes and to this day are still great friends. Over the years Problem Child has had bookings around the midlands playing Old Skool and Drum & Bass, and has also worked on & off with Gamma Funkula. He's especially known for playing his Old Skool sets where he plays rather dark tunes from producers such as Bizzy B, FBD Project, Nasty Habits, Tango, rufige Cru and so on. He is now promoting his event 'Dubplate Wars' which launches on Friday 30th March @ The Loft in Coventry, where he has Old Skool legend BIZZY B headlining. Started Djing in 1992/93 on a second hand set of ElektraVision belt driven decks!!. After much stumbling and determination i mastered the art and have developed my own unique style playing , old skool ,old skool house , trance , hardcore and italian ! Influences include Dj Welly Have played at Venues such as Better Dayz, Bowlers , bowlers reunion , 53 degrees , maximes , cricketers and compulsion at the mighty bowlers exhibition centre in manchester also booked to play there again on new years eve 2011 ! Also i was the first dj to grace the decks at the legendary bowlers leisure centre in over ten years when it re-opened its doors in may 2011 where i warmed up for the mighty return of the compulsion events ! I'm Jase Crawley, 45, and I live and work in Manchester in the U of K. I've been buying records since I was 7 / 8 years old and I still haven't grown out of the habit yet. I've been making my own music, remixes, re - edits, and bootlegs for about the last 17 years, and have DJ'd since I was 17. This account represents 5 years worth of my musical output in the form of mostly DJ sets - think it must have close to 500+ mixes now, there's probably close to a hundred original tunes and re - edits etc, and loads of other stuff I've completely forgotten about. Ive always loved music, I bought my first record in 1979 ( Tom Hark - The Pirhanas ). The first music I realy got into was Ska (The Specials, Selecter etc) also liked The Jam. I really like Northern Soul and Mowtown aswell. Mid eighties I mostly bought chart stuff until the late eighties when I really started to get into the house tunes that made the charts. Then a mate who had some decks introduced me to proper dance music. Soon after I started clubbing at The Palais in Sheffield, it wasnt like any club Id been to before, the music was amazing and it was wall to wall with people dancing anywhere and everywhere. My love affair had begun, I started collecting Vinyl and clubbing up and down the country ( Renaissance, Wobble, BYO to name a few). I got my first pair of decks ( SoundLab DLPs) about 93, I had the bug all through the 90s I collected vinyl later got my Technics, although Ive played out a few times its mainly been a hobby mainly due to commitments (bringing up my kids and working). Id be a liar if I said I didnt want to be a Superstar DJ but hey we cant all be one. Anyway I still love the music and doing mixes I suppose I always will.

Sandwiches. No longer an active DJ. ; Used to play at the Steam Bar Cafe in Derby, and did a few private parties. ; Was an avid 'bedroom DJ'. In terms of dance music - heavily influenced by early Renaissance releases (prog house etc). Was lucky to have been a regular Renaissance clubber when it first opened in Venue 44, Mansfield in 1992.
