I’ve always loved music. I use songs to remember people, moments, and chapters of my life. From early childhood, I developed an instinctive feel for how music is built, and over the years that natural understanding grew without me even realising it. I became the family DJ, which was no small feat (considering how demanding my family can be) and then I pushed myself to sharpen my skills even more. With my West Indian background, Reggae in all its forms (Mento, Ska, Rock Steady, Lovers Rock, Dancehall) is second nature. Growing up in London added another layer, giving me a deep appreciation for electronic sounds (80s Dance, Pop, Drum & Bass, Jungle, UK Garage, House). I’m also a huge fan of American music, from Classic Soul and R&B to Funk, Rare Grooves, New Jack Swing, Hip Hop, Rap, Trap, Jazz, and even Country. Over time, my palette expanded further into Soca, (Calypso, Zouk) and Afro Beats, including Amapiano.I hope the mixes I create brings a little joy into your life, the same way music has always done for mine. Please like and comment on the mixes you've enjoyed. Born & raised in London, I grew up surrounded by lots of cultures which groomed me to hear & love many musical genres. In my teens an amazing man whom I looked up to (R.I.P. Clement) gave me a pair of Gemini belt drive turntables & told me to practise & make it a way of releasing my pent up energy... Since then I have played at all sorts of events from Universities to bars & clubs to special events & parties! My musical influences come from a wide, varied range of input both as a child growing up in a house of HiLife, Motown, Soul & Funk music mixed with my own tastes in Hiphop, Indie, Garage, RnB etc. My life changed when I heard The Notorious B.I.G’s 1997 Album, Life After Death. Since that magical day, my love of Hip Hop & RnB has grown & now I play a range of Urban Music in my resident sets. Catch me on social media @deejaybdj Email deejaybdj@gmail.com for bookings

I've been a DJ of one sort or another since 1978 when I played a load of reggae 12" discomixes at a school disco, causing much puzzlement! Played at many a house party and also for sound systems in Norwich in the 80s, then got into the Rave scene in early 90s, was resident DJ at Offyerface Norwich for 10 years playing techno and house... moved to Cumbria then after a break, started playing at parties and festivals again, Dubstep under the name League Against Dubstep, then reggae with Jambeater Sound and others... currently however I seem to be on an Afro-House tip, and by Afro House I don't mean the Brazilian latin stuff, although that's good too, but I'm talking about house from Africa, mainly South Africa but with many diverse collaborators thrown in... It's just got that dreamy trancy wide-open-spacey vibe, beautiful soaring harmonies and almost but not quite clashing chords, mad sub bass lines and of course the endless shaker beat and pounding kick drum underpinning everything, hardly a snare drum or a hi-hat to be heard, superb live instruments and majestic vocals, I don't know what they are singing about but I don't care!
