Hi, I'm Dave, from Coventry, and i started djing way back in 1990, while still at school, inspired by legends Sasha and Carl Cox after listening to sets, given to me from older friends! I spent a lot of my time during the early 90's at the legendary club Eclipse, in Coventry, where i met lots of fantastic people including some of the finest DJ's around at the time, doing a couple of sets in Marco Polo, Birmingham. I also ventured across the midlands, clubbing wise, to places including Shelley's, Institute and Coast 2 Coast. After 5 years, i fell out of love with the scene, seeing as it was changing and not to my liking, to be honest and in 1995 i gave up raving and djing. Kept my vinyl, though, just in case!! Got back into it in 2006 after listening to online radio playing a lot of oldskool, and thought I'd give it another go. Not had the confidence to play out again, since but you never know..... Favourite DJ's. Carl Cox, Sasha, Ellis Dee, Stu Allan, Ratty, Tango, Ray Keith, Mark Archer. Clubs. Eclipse, Shelley's, Institute, Coast 2 Coast

Way back when he was a small child his ambition to have a good collection of music started when his second ever record purchased was, Jack and chill - The Jack That House Built, (do you want to know what the first record was?) Ok Ok, The frog Chorus. He then went on to buying more classic vinyls with other friends at a little shop in Salisbury called Phoenix Records, this shop was the best for finding classic albums like all the Chicago House, Detroit Techno, Acid House E.t.c albums about back then, at about the age of fifteen Jinx then moved on to cassette tape mixing, which (if any of you know) is quite tricky to do, but when you got in to it the rewards are quite fruitful. He then went on to mixing the very hard way, using two separate cheap record players, with no pitch, no decent stylus's, no mixer, he just used the volume controllers on each record player to fade each track in and out. JinxC's (then known as Indulgence, yes the promoter gave him his first name) first booking came just before he was 18 years old, playing in Salisbury's Legendary Concordes nightclub, this venue put Salisbury on the raving map and is still close to many a Salisbury raver /clubber's heart even though the place shut down many years ago. JinxC’ formerly known as DJ ‘Vitamin C’, started mixing when he was 15 years old back in 1990, playing Hardcore & Jungle.Jinx in the early days was recognised as more of a free party DJ but went on to grace the turntables just about everywhere in Salisbury including largeevents held at Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury Leisure Centre. He has also played out at clubs such as Chaplins; Enzos; The Gallery; Po Na Na; Tremor; The Barn; The Trinity Centre; Flabbergast NYE 2006 In Ipswich and For ‘Firewall’ on the 26th of August 2007 in Bridgewater at the Palace Nightclub and many more other places located around the Salisbury area. Jinx also helped organise a DJ workshop called Bass Connection and was also one of the founders, he trained young people to mix records. I’ve been collecting vinyl and putting together mixtapes, of varying music for the last fifteen years. I used to play trance but the trance boom (commercial takeover) in 1999 put me off what was once a creative source of music. The music became predictive, poppy, dull and formulaic. Whilst studying in Nottingham, England I played funk, soul and hiphop at parties and in bars in the Hockley area. I also played at a monthly night with a friend at the Hard to Find Café Bar called Random Tandem where we could play anything we liked from the past, as long as people knew it and would love it. This gave us chance to be as creative and imaginative as we wanted to be. We also played breaks at the Blueprint club which was a real experience and a right laugh. Since moving back to Sheffield i’ve been re-energised by the rise and rise of dubstep and the creativity that has come with it (although no more wobblers or chainsaws please!). I’ve also grown to love the spacey and funky sounds (that are a bit more musical and accessible) that have come with ‘liquid’ dnb over the last few years and at the moment there seems to be a limitless supply of new tunes coming out. At the moment I’m looking for a residency in a bar or club in the Sheffield area. I can play funk, old school hip-hop, breaks and ‘liquid’ (I don’t like this term>pidgeon holing again!) Drum n Bass. More mixes to come! Get in touch my email address is adedent_53@hotmail.com.

DJ Problem Child was born in the UK where his love for music started with Michael Jackson but grew up in Trinidad in the 1980s. By then he mainly listened to Dancehall and especially Hip Hop. Such as NWA, Public Enemy & Ice T etc. He moved back to England in 1991 when he was 11 and was handed a tape, Top Buzz @ Eclipse 'The Highlander' - the event of which The Eclipse Nightclub in Coventry had held in Scotland. This blew him away because this was not only a Coventry promotion who had staged this event, but he also lived just very near the club itself, and he loved the sound Top Buzz were playing because it was a mixture of Hip Hop breaks with Reggae vocals and loved the energy of the music. After this and listening to Ratty @ 'Dance Nation' tape he was hooked, listening to dj's like Jumping Jack Frost, Fabio, Grooverider, Mickey Finn, Randall but his main influences and who are still his favourtie dj's to this day were Doc Scott, Ratty & LTJ Bukem. During the period when he was at school in the 1990s, he was always spending his pocket money on tapes at Bangin Tunes, Revive & Spinadisc, and then he started to collect records and flyers (he had every flyer you could think of until someone decided to bin them all once when moving house, argh!) but he was never djing. He just loved listening to the tapes and in 1994 he started buying records. When Problem Child was 16, he went to his first rave; Helter Skelter 'Imagination' on New Years Eve 1996 at The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes. It was everything he could dream of with loads of his favorite dj's & mc's playing and he was raving non stop from 1997 onwards he was raving non stop, attending parties such as Dreamscape, Slammin Vinyl, Helter Skelter, Hysteria, One Nation, Flashback to name a few. By 2000 he decided to buy a pair of decks because by this point he had quite a large record collection, and in 2002 he had his first gig at one of Coventry's well known local events; No Wet Weed. He also went onto play at Safe + Sound which was a weekly event at Platform 5 doing Drum & Bass and Hardcore where he met Noizee B, who had also just started playing out and was only 15 years old and still in school, they both had similar tastes and to this day are still great friends. Over the years Problem Child has had bookings around the midlands playing Old Skool and Drum & Bass, and has also worked on & off with Gamma Funkula. He's especially known for playing his Old Skool sets where he plays rather dark tunes from producers such as Bizzy B, FBD Project, Nasty Habits, Tango, rufige Cru and so on. He is now promoting his event 'Dubplate Wars' which launches on Friday 30th March @ The Loft in Coventry, where he has Old Skool legend BIZZY B headlining. The event consists of 2 rooms of Old Skool, Jungle and Drum & Bass with a selection of DJ's from around the Midlands, more information can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/events/384123444946697/ Big shouts from Problem Child to: Glenn Aston, Gershwin, Noizee B, Toz @ Distortion Cru, Adi @ Gamma Funkula, Chris & Dundee @ Rubber Duck PA, D Tain, Rob May, No Wet Weed, Platform 5 crew, Vader, Assasin, Spangle8, Justin, Aimee, all the artists and team helping with Dubplate Wars, and those who have downloaded his sets and supported him.
