I like to introduce myself to all music lovers: DJBEAR a.k.a DJBERKAND “Purveyor of deep, infectious dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how Berkand describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up on his father’s eclectic combination of Rock N Roll music (Elvis Presley,The Beatles), European pop stars (Mina, Julio Iglesias, Adriano Celentano), synth-infused 80s music (Depeche Mode, Gary Numan)… all which became infused with his own love for both disco, jazz and soft rock music, Berkand ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best: beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks… all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat. A very active member of Deep House community, Berkand is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of a small-town music scene. Though he loves playing in nightclubs, patios and special events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a producer, amateur pianist, and promoter, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically. From an early age Daniel had an obsession with music, DJing at his parents new years eve party at the age of 10 and buying and collecting music whenever possible, It was a number of years later that Daniel was able to buy his first technical set of decks and start his DJing journey. In 2008 Daniel won a DJ slot in a competition, arranged byTrackitdown.netand Dance Island to DJ at the Dance Island Festival, his mix was 1 of 15 from 650+ entries to get chosen, a magnificent achievement and another step in the right direction in his djing career. Since 2008 Daniel has been fortunate enough to secure various residencies at local clubs and had the opportunity to play in some of the UK's best loved venue's. In recent times Daniel has seen his DJing go from strength to strength, embracing new technologies and also venturing into the world of mashup/bootleg creation. Onwards and upwards, as D:Ream would say "Things can only get better"
