He made his first tentative forays into the music world in the punk era of the late 70s. After singing with a few anarcho punk bands, during which he gigged around the UK and appeared on vinyl a few times in the early-mid 80s with Hex, he acquired a cheap synth/keyboard just in time for the acid-house Summer of Love, and began making underground electronic music. His tunes were inspired by the techno end of the early house scene (Model 500 etc.), the trippy psychedelia he’d grown to love (Gong, Hillage, Hawkwind, Hendrix, Zappa, Led Zep etc.) and the harder edge of his old political punk favourites (Crass, Conflict, Subhumans, Flux of Pink Indians etc.), and he went on to DJ at a few parties in the early 90s when he was heavily into the rave/old-skool-hardcore scene (before it lost the dark breaks vibe and became all ‘happy’), but was unable to pursue mixing/production very far back then due to ‘adverse’ circumstances. In the mid 90s he took a change of direction and got into writing. He moved to Crewe for 2 years of a Humanities degree at a faculty of Manchester Met Uni, majoring in Creative Writing, with an elective in Film Studies (which influenced his next change of direction), where he enjoyed a spell of performing poetry (as he had done in Hex as well as singing) before he was kicked out for partying too much. In the late 90s, after a couple of lean years back in Sunderland, he moved to Leeds where he graduated from the Northern Film School and was involved in the making of numerous films, including his own feature-lengthed documentary “No Blood for Oil”, which documented the protests leading up to, and during the 2nd Gulf War with Iraq: Crass donated 2 tracks free of charge to a film that he lovingly crafted the soundtrack for with electronic music from his old Sunderland friend in Leeds, Steve Brown. It headlined the Leeds International Film Festival underground film event in 2001(?). In the mid-late ‘noughties’, he returned to the music scene to make live gig videos for local acts/venues/promoters to use on-line. Then he began making underground electronic music again, using his cinematic skills to make his own no-budget ‘promo’ vids. Close friends with local punk/ska/dub/hip-hop/d&b outfit China Shop Bull (then Fulibulbus), he went on tour with them to make a feature-lengthed tour documentary, and followed it up with several others. In 2010, he signed up with Putz Records of Rio de Janeiro for the electronic release of his “Quantum Quandary” minimal techno EP, and signed a contract for a feature film script he can’t say anything more about until it goes into production. As well as producing, DJing, filmmaking, and writing, he promotes gigs for local music-related community causes (Unity Day, RPCC, Oblong, Cloth Cat), and helps run the weekly Fenton Boogie open-mic/jam at The Fenton, Leeds. His recent musical output encapsulates numerous genres/sub-genres: hard, minimal and acid techno, tech-house, old/nu skool and ambient breaks, d&b/jungle, dubstep, dark and dirty electro, etc. The 2 tracks from the EP can be bought via Juno downloads, whilst up to now, and a couple are on compilation Lps, the rest of his 160+ tracks and mixes are all available on-line as free downloads.

DJ Eric Devlin got his start in 1984, when his father a known club DJ and roller skating rink operator began to teach him. Eric's family that was in the nightclub and roller skating business as well as in sound design in the late 70's and 80's in New York City and Long Island made it easy for Eric to develop his skills and begin his career. At the age of twelve his started to begin his record collection with Rap, enjoying Cutting and scratching records. Eric developed his skills by listening to local mixes on the radio, recording, listening and learning from his favorite DJ's.Later, in the mid 80's Eric moved to a different neighborhood, he began to start his collection of Freestyle dance. At age 16, he was setting up equipment in his driveway having the local kids come out to dance. Also during this time he began to teach his skill to many others. While DJing private parties Eric knew that he wanted to become a club DJ. Later in his late teens Eric started spinning house and began to spin in local bars and clubs only to find himself wanting to go bigger and better. After moving to Miami in his twenties Eric won chance at his dream to have a residency in a famous nightclub, for Eric that was only the beginning. Beginning to follow DJ's such as Junior Vasquez, David Knapp, Victor Calderone and many others, he changed his style to streamline himself to become a known DJ. DJ Eric Devlin says " what I love most about DJing is watching the people dance having a good time and would do this hobby for free just for the experience".Eric has remained in the back corners of the club scene for quite some time and is beginning to bring up his status as a DJ to get back into the game, as he says. Remixing and creating original productions, Eric is on his way again! So check out and download all of DJ Eric Devlin's mixes, FOLLOW him and leave comments. JOIN ERIC ON FACEBOOK I MISS THE GOOD OL'DAYS WHEN WE HAD TO REALLY MIX A RECORD! THERE ARE A LOT OF US OUT THERE, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

I began my DJ career at age 16 with one of my dad's belt drive turntables, a friend's belt drive turntable and a $90 Gemini mixer. I later got a set of 1210s and a a real mixer and went for it! In college my friend DJ Atom and I began the Ill Communications production company and started throwing raves in Santa Cruz and The SF Bay Area. I spent 5 years as the DJ for the seminal San Francisco Metal/Hip Hop band Zeromind. Playing with a live band gave me a respect for pitch and phrasing that most DJs don't have a need for. I was regularly "playing" along with the band in key with guitar samples and sound effects. Soloing on stage to hundreds of people as part of a rock band is something I will probably never replicate. Since then I have moved into the digital era and began working with software like Traktor and Ableton. I have a love for music that will never die, even though I have not been able to pursue it as my career I still regularly find myself spinning and producing tracks. If you love it, you just have to do it!

Hey I'm André! Equipment:2 Technics 1200mk5s, 2 Pioneer CDJ 900s, Pioneer DJM 700 4 channel mixer, Vinyl :), 2 JBL 15” monitors, Klipsch 12” subwoofer. How I started spinning: When I was 15 I stumbled upon a radio station here in L.A. (103.1 KDL) that used toplayall of the club hits at that time such as: Diving - 4 strings, Something – Lasgo etc. I didn’t even know what this type of music was called, but the melodies and energy captivated me so I looked into how one “plays” it which is how I got into djing. As far as my reasons for spinning aside from loving the music, I feel a calling for me to unite people through music, so getting an uplifting emotional message across to the crowd through tunes that I love playing is very fulfilling as well as uplifting for me. If I can make peoples’ or even just one person’s night at a party through good vibes, then that’s all I want :).Reason for mixing so many styles:Well I feel that not just one genre explains or “understands” how I feel and given that there are so many aspects that make up my personality and sentiments that are ever changing, for me spinning just one isn’t as fulfilling as playing multiple. From the heavy sides of hardstyle, morbidity and rolling basslines of dark psy, to the dreamy uplifting aspects of trance, it’s impossible for me to appreciate just one style.
