Pair of Pioneer CDJ 350, DJM 350 Mixer and M-Audio BX5 Studio Monitors bag 1 - Deep Soulful/Tech/Afro House bag 2 - Hip Hop, RnB, Dancehall, UK Funky, Kwaito Born and bred in Bloemfontein, South Africa, currently living in the UK. Developed my passion for house music in the late 90's when the genre started gaining momentum in South Africa. It was through the influence of some of South Africa's pioneers of House Music, namely, DJ Christos, Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Fresh, Glen Lewis, DJ Khabzela, Oskido and DJ Monde, to mention just a few. While House Music remains my main music of choice, I have also dabbled with a variety of urban genres, incl. Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall and UK Funky. It was through Urban music where I had the opportunity to DJ at some of the South Coast's popular nightclubs. I currently run a series of mixtapes, namely, South Africa Deep series, Stebo Goes Deep series and the seasonal Soulful and Jazzy House series. DJ Rec has started in 1998 in private underground parties. in 2009 and after a long break he joined the SecondLife DJs community he gets helps from some famous SL DJs especially Diego Hartle and Nightattack Guardian. He was spinning in some SecondLife clubs : Kokaine , aqua club , BED club , Dance4Life , and finally he find home at oasis club and toritos club. Born in Soweto, South Africa 15/05/84.DjSika is known for many talents to different people, Being an Architectural Designer by profession, A son to a single mother, A big brother to two siblings, A friend to many And A Dedicated Lover To House Music.His first exposure to entertaining audiences was playing for friends and family for Birthday parties, Braai's and Cultural celebrations. Not long after that, He started getting acquanted with other young dj friends he met along his journey.To date he has played at private parties that are too many to mention, restaurants/bars - ( Nino's Maponya Mall, Tavern Maponya Mall, Kasi Cafe).Some of the organised events that DjSika has played at, include "The Press Play Vinyl Sessions at Kasi Cafe", "Rythmic Movement Presents Funsion" where he played with artists like Infinite Boys, Da Capo, Blaq Soul, Beat Army, PhonoDeeps, Objektives just to name but a few.Not forgetting the launch of The First Annual New Castle Beach Party (Kzn.S.A), hosted by a very good friend and businessman Mr Phakade Khanyile.DjSika found himself associating with Internationally acclaimed Dj/Producers like Culoe De Song, Oskido, Dj Kent and Dj Sox. Enjoying backstage passes meant that he could rub shoulders and have meaningful conversations with world renowned vocalist Patrick L. Chappell (Im Your Friend).DjSika's love for house music overshadows other genres of music but as determined by circumstance, RnB, Jazz and Roots Reggae can also be found on his music player of choice.DjSika has always been known to be a flexible dj. This means that he can play most styles of house, i.e. Commercial, Local, Deep etc. He believes that there are a lot of factors that go into how he plays his sets.His Mood, the crowds mood, time at which he plays and the type of event he is playing at. All these are factors that he believes in and which guide him to make the choices he makes behind the decks.Because DjSika beleives that Djying is an art form, his intuition and his knowledge of reading a crowd always make him "A Cut Above The Rest".DjSika is very crowd driven.
