Sandwiches. No longer an active DJ. ; Used to play at the Steam Bar Cafe in Derby, and did a few private parties. ; Was an avid 'bedroom DJ'. In terms of dance music - heavily influenced by early Renaissance releases (prog house etc). Was lucky to have been a regular Renaissance clubber when it first opened in Venue 44, Mansfield in 1992.

old classic house music anything with a piano ;-) DJ TOSH i started djing in 1989 in a club in middlesbrough called blaises on a friday night and did the illegal parties at the greenway after hours on saturday nights with mc buzz to form 'the good peoples ball' where we went on to do clubs and gigs in the north east in 1990 before settling in at a club called ''ROCKSHOTS'' in newcastle, where we did once a month events to start with, then changed to every friday due to popular demand.i also did guest slots at local clubs - meltdown in middlesbrough, the eclipse in stockton, after dark in sunderland, energi house in newcastle and the venue in spennymoor before hanging my headphones up from the club scene in 1996 and many a good night was had by all there (and i mean ALL, myself included) playing all the anthems and tunes from back in the day........massive respect to each and everyone of you who went and enjoyed yourself there........ this is your last one for tonight....goodnight, god bless, and have a safe journey home ;-)PEACE LOVE and UNITY

Bassline House/Speedgarage/Oldskool/Piano & Italian Synth Spinning since the late 90's. Lost most of my mixes from this site so I'm working on re-uploading them all & bringing the page back to how it was. Stay Tuned! Started off as a bedroom DJ back in the mid to late 90's. Early influences were the ZONE in Blackpool, Dreamscape then I slid down the Helter Skelter and landed in the Trance era where I bought my first Soundlab belt drive decs, Soon to be replaced by 1210s then CDJs many years later. Started off on Happy Harcore & Oldskool/Italian synth then Trance/Hardhouse into the Bassline, Speedgarage/4x4 then back to the OldSkool where my passion is 😊. I lost my very long Bio so I'll update this as well at some point 😎

2x Technics SL1210 Mk II Citronic Pro-10 2 x Pioneer CDJ 400 Kaoss Pad II iKey Plus - recorded to WAV Audacity - compress to 320kbps  MP3 All my mixes are done real time without software. Sometimes I edit with Audacity to remove errors. 6000+  vinyl & 3000+ cd: 80s synthpop, soul/funk, electro, hip hop, dub & roots, chicago house, acid house, rave/hardcore, techno, handbag house, hard techno, detroit techno, drum & bass, IDM, ambient, trance, tech-house, progressive house, electro house, dubstep, and a bit of everything in between! for collection listing and pics: http://www.discogs.com/user/steady-j Where do I start? Graeme Park, WARP, Public Enemy, Autechre, No U Turn, Alex Patterson, Roger Troutman, Juan Atkins, Todd Terry, Jeff Mills, Pete Namlook, Mark Archer Been into music since I was a kid - soul & funk on the radio with Robbie Vincent on a Sunday eve after Annie Nightingale after the Charts! Hooked on house from when I first heard those first few "House" records from Chicago in late 86 - Love Can't Turn Around, Jack Your Body etc. Also into Hip Hop big time in those days - first it was Mantronix & LL CoolJ, then Public Enemy, NWA, Run DMC all that stuff! Got the record buying bug at Uni. Cut my mixing teeth at University Radio and bought some Soundlab decks with my summer job money. They wore out in about 4 or 5 years and were replaced by the Technics. Following Dance Music's twists and turns through the years, trying most things, but not loving all genres. My biggest musical regret is spurning the nascent hardcore scene when the tracks were still sounding rough and ropey, and I missed out on the development of jungle between 92-95, picking up again with the techstep thing in 95. But I sure as hell bought a lot of house and techno in those years! Late 90s I concentrated on techno, D&B and "IDM"  - the whole WARP/Aphex/Autechre spawned genre of electronic listening music and experimentation. But I kept ujp with the commercial house and trance stuff too. Spent a lot of money on vinyl and clubbing in those days, Styles I never really got into (but still enjoy in the right circumstances) include happy hardcore, gabba, breaks, minimal and UKG (until dubstep and its more recent mutations). Early 2000s was lean years for me with starting a family, plus illness, slowing down my clubbing and music purchasing. A Numark CD deck joined my setup but became unreliable after a few years and was replaced by the Pioneers. Picked up again in the last few years with more new purchases than in the early 2000s but still a lot less than in the 90s due to time and funding limitations. Nowadays listening to D&B, dubstep, house, techno, and any eclectic stuff that catches my ear. Mostly buy CDs and MP3 now due to the cost of vinyl but still love mixing vinyl and prefer the hands-on approach, hence the Pioneers instead of a laptop. The Citronic is the third mixer I have owned and by far the best. The Kaoss Pad was a lucky bargain from a friend of a friend, and the iKey is essential for recording, after years of using tape and minidisc! I listed "house" as my favourite genre, not because that is what I favour most at present, but because in a way it's all house music. To me, Chicago House (and Detroit Techno) circa 1986 was the focal point, the narrowing in the funnel of all music, that then went on to fan out and spawn all the music I love. And by the way, I know its a long shot, if you like what you hear, any promoters or anyone wanting a DJ for a club, bar or even a party, somewhere around the West Midlands and Worcestershire, UK (I live in Malvern) in any of the styles of any of my mixes uploaded here, just get in touch!

Hi, I'm Dave, from Coventry, and i started djing way back in 1990, while still at school, inspired by legends Sasha and Carl Cox after listening to sets, given to me from older friends! I spent a lot of my time during the early 90's at the legendary club Eclipse, in Coventry, where i met lots of fantastic people including some of the finest DJ's around at the time, doing a couple of sets in Marco Polo, Birmingham. I also ventured across the midlands, clubbing wise, to places including Shelley's, Institute and Coast 2 Coast. After 5 years, i fell out of love with the scene, seeing as it was changing and not to my liking, to be honest and in 1995 i gave up raving and djing. Kept my vinyl, though, just in case!! Got back into it in 2006 after listening to online radio playing a lot of oldskool, and thought I'd give it another go. Not had the confidence to play out again, since but you never know..... Favourite DJ's. Carl Cox, Sasha, Ellis Dee, Stu Allan, Ratty, Tango, Ray Keith, Mark Archer. Clubs. Eclipse, Shelley's, Institute, Coast 2 Coast

Ive always loved music, I bought my first record in 1979 ( Tom Hark - The Pirhanas ). The first music I realy got into was Ska (The Specials, Selecter etc) also liked The Jam. I really like Northern Soul and Mowtown aswell. Mid eighties I mostly bought chart stuff until the late eighties when I really started to get into the house tunes that made the charts. Then a mate who had some decks introduced me to proper dance music. Soon after I started clubbing at The Palais in Sheffield, it wasnt like any club Id been to before, the music was amazing and it was wall to wall with people dancing anywhere and everywhere. My love affair had begun, I started collecting Vinyl and clubbing up and down the country ( Renaissance, Wobble, BYO to name a few). I got my first pair of decks ( SoundLab DLPs) about 93, I had the bug all through the 90s I collected vinyl later got my Technics, although Ive played out a few times its mainly been a hobby mainly due to commitments (bringing up my kids and working). Id be a liar if I said I didnt want to be a Superstar DJ but hey we cant all be one. Anyway I still love the music and doing mixes I suppose I always will.

Totally joined the digital revolution now, with a Dell Dimension 5150 and Dell Latitude D620, loaded with Virtual DJ and now combined with a Hercules RMX. Sony headphones to boot. Full mobile setup, including amps, speakers, bass bins, lights and smoke.   I've always been interested in music, however the main man who turned me on to dance music was Carl Cox! I used to listen to his mix tapes and he blew my mind! I first saw and heard him at Fatsams nightclub Dundee. He was the man, and i've seen him a few times since. He was the main inspiration, along with a Rikki B tape from the Sunset club, coupled with returning home after my student days and experiencing part of the English festival circuit, especially Underworld, Glastonbury '89 and Hawkwind, Treworgy Tree Festival '89, that i purchased my first set of decks and mixer. I was fortunate to return, at the time, dance music was exploding locally. Who could forget those classic local events, Peace In The Valley, Secret and Foxy Rave? They were brilliant nights! I used to make mix tapes with the aid of a double tape player and the radio and used to give them out to friends, and after getting my decks, i used to play anywhere i could, in my bedroom, peoples houses, Aberfeldy raft race(that was mental), the back of pubs and snippets in the locall clubs, especially the Og chill out room, when the Hype Collective where there! Who could forget the night Dj Nipper was in town, pure madness! Ran my own nights Aphrodisia and Romp mainly in Angus, Dundee and Stonehaven inviting some of Britians finest Djs for a few years and was resident in the local Nightclubs in Kirriemuir and Forfar, up until about 3 years ago, which i thoroughly enjoyed, until family commitments became more important. Ran my own mobile for a few years, which was much fun. Love mixing and i have my own studio in my house to keep me satisfied when i have the time. Early Adam & the Ants, Sex Pistols, Duran Duran, Bauhaus, Human League, T-Rex, The Animals, The Orb, Underworld(saw them live Glastonbury 1989), Led Zeppelin, Pink floyd, Prodigy, Prefab Sprout, Depeche Mode, Italian House, Vitalic, Carl Cox, Rikki B,& loads loads loads more !

Sonny-Woods
Sonny-Woods

Short Biog taken from Terminal Magazine: SONNY WOODS (aKa DJ SONNY / D-MIX / TEC II / MIXMASTER D) Sonny has been at the heart of the underground dance music scene since the early Hip Hop days of 1983. He is the man responsible for putting on Shrewsbury’s very first rave & club events back in ’89-93 & was Shropshire’s very first actual ‘Mixing DJ’. In the early 90’s, using various DJ pseudonyms, Sonny performed at many of UK’s premier rave events in including Amnesia, Perception, Vision (38,000 people), Pandemonium, Shelleys & Kinetic in Stoke & the Eclipse in Coventry, playing alongside the likes of The Prodigy, Orbital, Carl Cox, Sasha, Fabio & Grooverider. Sonny also held prestigious residencies at various club nights in Manchester, London, Stoke & a mid-week residency with Sasha in Birmingham. In 1992 Sonny opened Bassment Records, Shrewsbury’s very first underground record shop, & then in ‘93 this all culminated with a 3 month DJ tour of Australia. After a few years break from DJing through to 1996, Sonny then tried his hand at making records along with friend Adrian Bebbington. Their very first demo tape resulted in them being signed by Simon Dunmore to one of the world's biggest dance labels, A&M records, on a 5 EP deal as artist's 'Clockwork Soul' on a new dance label project. Their first promo EP received airplay from Danny Rampling on Radio 1, and great reviews by both DJ mag & Mixmag. It also stirred great interest at the Miami music conference, leading to a possible US deal with Jon Cutler's label. But unfortunately, whilst all this was happening, Simon Dunmore left A&M & so they cancelled his project & Sonny and Adrian went different ways, so nothing major came of it....a big shame! More recently Sonny has enjoyed success with his seminal nationwide underground event‘PLANET of the BREAKS’.Sonny has made available over 18 hours of his Old Skool mixes from 1988-93, all re-stored & re-mastered from original tape recordings, many of which were taken live at various events. These mixes represent a bit of a musical journey covering most styles of Old-Skool Dance including Deep, Funky & Acid House, Detroit Techno, Italo Piano, European New Beat, Hardcore Breakbeat & UK Progressive House. All these mixes were done at a time when there were no Mixer EQ’s, fancy FX or even DJ monitors at many events! Enjoy….
