Strong’ands Moving to Bristol in the late 90’s and rediscovering his love for dance music that started in the 80’s electronic scene, Strong’ands soon connected with Rama and Steve Matson to start the Manna Music underground nights. A meeting in Ibiza with like minded DJ’s secured the foundations of the growing parties. Starting with organizing, bookkeeping and decorating in the first few parties and some warm up sets he found his place in lineup. Bridging the musical gap between the US house room and the deep house and techno of the main room, a chunky house set developed deployed across the two rooms. The mixture of the crowd and their shared love of the Manna music sustained a decade of activity before family took priority. Today based out of the Netherlands, the music scene continues to be important, the music choice may be a bit more melodic but there’s always room for a bit of cheese, that’s not just the Dutch influence!

Rama has been called a lot of things over the years, not all of them pretty. As a DJ he’s also gone by Bobby Dazzler and RDG. He started playing in the late 90’s, initially in some of Bristol’s darker underground clubs (The Depot, Castro’s), but the vibe and overall music quality led him to get together with a couple of dodgy mates to start their own night, Manna Music. The first few parties were in the basement of a death-trap taxi rank in Easton, but the party soon spread onto 3 floors, adding a bar and a straight US House room. The music was always the most important thing, but the friendliness and vibe made the Manna parties the highlight of everyone’s club calendar. The parties became legendary, at least to those who attended, and they soon outgrew the taxi rank, finally ending up at Motion in Bristol, before life took over and the parties ended in mid-noughties. Manna was a dance music night in Bristol in the early naughties, put on by a bunch of idiots who were sick of clubs, attitudes, queues, bouncers, and crappy music. The parties became legendary, and news spread by word of mouth, needing ever-bigger venues, and eventually moving to Motion. Eventually, the DJ's all got lives, but the Manna spirit never died. Now the DJs are back producing new mixes for a new generation of listeners, as well as the old party faithful.
