I began my love affair with US garage/soulful house after visiting Hard Times in Leeds in around 94. I had been clubbing and collecting vinyl for the previous 2 years but listening to this kind of house music changed my mind. Listening to dj's such as MAW, Roger S, Jazz n Groove, Farley and Heller, CJ Mackintosh, Joey Negro and the Hard Times residents was a major influence on me from this moment onward. Other major influences on me were Graeme Park and also Danny Rampling and his now famous Love Groove Dance Party on Radio 1. I have been playing out for the last 15 years but have held 3 residencies in this time at Kube in Wakefield, Suave at Sugarbar in Nottingham and at my own night called Fusion on a Thursday at Gate Bar in Harrogate. I have also had guest slots at Soul Tonic (Mint Club, Leeds), Niteshift (Manchester), Mex Bar (Wakefield), Revolution (Bradford), Retro (Mission, Leeds and Bradford), PM Bar (Bradford), Tokyo (Huddersfield) and The Retreat (Huddersfield). I have played for the Hustle crew for the last 2 years and now play once a month in Barnsley at Opium No 10 bar and Blah Bar playing funky, late 90's classics and soulful vocal house music.

ATTENTION! Please be aware I no longer post mixes on house-mixes. If you have happened to have recently discovered me or listened to me before, you can find me still posting mixes on soundcloud & mixcloud. Been spinning since 88 and after a 10yr absence I returned a few years back to start mixing again. Before my "retirement", I played at a number of clubs and had residencies at the "infamous" Legends in Old Burlington St and at the Emporium in Soho. I currently mix for fun, but if the right opportunity presented itself Imight be interested in playing out again. My style of mixing is (I like to think) smooth, Itry to take the listener on a rhythmical adventure / journey. I particularly enjoy creating something between the mixes (when possible!) rather than simply going from deck to deck, so if you find yourself; a) loving the tunes, b) having an irresistable urge to dance and c) then realise you haven`t got a clue which tune you`re listening to, then I`m doing my job. My musical style usually falls into 3 categories; deep,soulful or nu disco but always funky. Would love to hear your comments on my mixes, don`t be shy. I appreciate what DJ`s can put into a mix and the least I can do is take time to offer feedback befitting the quality of themix. I started the clubs scene during the 1980s and I was influenced by soul- disco, the freewheeling Jaz funk scene, emerging house, hip-hop styles and Latin . I went to my very first Southport weekender in the early 90's and then I became hooked with the house scene and I bought my first decks and started to play sets in the underground clubs and parties. I was a Part of largest pirate radio station in yorkshire sharing my passion for Funk soul- US Garage & soulful house. Thats history and this is now... Goya MusicMan, a passionate DJ, started his music journey in 1999 at just 16 years old. What began as a hobby turned into a career spanning over two decades. By 2008, he was already performing as a semi-professional DJ. He built his reputation playing at clubs like Platinum Lounge (2008-2009), Café del Khuze (2010-2012), and Dukes Grill Lounge (2011-2015). From 2016 to 2019, he became a freelancer, touring with King Maestro in various cities across South Africa. Between 2019 and 2021, he took a break from club gigs to study political science but continued making mixtapes for his podcast, The Goya MusicMan Show. In 2022, he helped create music event concepts for The Sauce Lifestyle Café in Polokwane, including the successful PLK Plastic Affair, which ran until 2024 and featured international DJs. In 2022, he was hired by Seventh House Ltd. to produce a jazz mix for Eddie Harris. Today, he runs Goya Music SA, an aspiring record label, and continues to DJ, create mixtapes, and train as a music producer under Victor Duba at Lepatata Records. His journey is all about passion, growth, and pushing boundaries in music.

House Is Life and i am addicted Been collecting music for 36 years and very proud of my vinyl collection from the 80's/90's. In my opinion the 80's was the best time for music and left me inspired by the great musicians and artists who left a legacy behind and music is still influenced by those heroes. Not afraid to experiment with sounds and always searching the globe for something a little different, and if recent releases don't cater for my needs, then there is always the archives. My Listening Genre's - House, Soulful House, Deep House, Afro House, Jazz House, Latin House, Tribal House, Lounge, Nu-Jazz, Soul, RNB, D&B, Garage, 2 Step. Music has always been my pastime and enjoyed the occasional gigs and live sets, but never really took my passion to the next level. Life is kinda hectic and faded out of the scene for a considerable time but now back to basics doing what i enjoy, pretty serious about my music and hope that i can spread some joy along the way...love peace and prosperity to all. I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music. Been a DJ since 96, Played on various Prate radio Stations and London Clubs. Started Mixing oldskool House & Garage but have mixed upfront drum and bass & Liquid drum and bass in the 2000's. My heart will aways be with my oldskool house and garage though. I could never part with my collection in fact, they will be buried with me! 😁😁 I currently play Minimal, Tech, Deep, Tribal and soulful House, Amapiano, Liquid Drum & Bass as well as Old Skool House and Garage, mainly from about 1991-1998 alternatively on ChoicefmUK each and every Wednesday from 8pm-10pm (UK time) 🔈🔉🔊🎵🎶🎶🎤🎧 Apart from my family, Music Is the key to my life. J Dovy has created his own style of “filtered house,” and “tekfunk.” Combining the two ingredients with a deep house vibe you can hear early influences by pioneers Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Shep Petibone, and Todd Terry. In 1997 J Dovy released his first track titled “Deep in Underground” on House Trade Records, under the moniker D&S. Later in 2010 he signed with various dance labels releasing more than 150 tracks on Soul Shift Music, Law Recordings, Disco Birds, Nylon Trax Records, and many others. His weekly podcast, “Burn It” consisting of deep house mixes grew a large audience with over 50,000 downloads over a three year period time, making it a total of 90 episodes. J Dovy helped put Lyon, France on the map while collaborating with other local artists and musicians. He formed Men From Nobu with fellow band mate Vartan Fau, a jazz pianist. “Nobu” is a track by Herbie Hancock, a popular musician beloved by the duo. Previous releases, were made under the names of Effendi and FueL, on Dovy’s chill out and funk label Lokossa Music. J’s second label Raw Matter Recordings caters to the more underground vibe releasing music from lesser known artists. Both labels have made boutique shop recommendations, such as Traxsource, Juno Download, also charted by DJ and producer Larry Heard. In 2014 J Dovy regrouped the two labels Raw Matter Recordings and Lokossa Music and formed dovymusic with sub labels Groove Park Records and somanymusic.

Strictly a home dj, I love music. All types. My Favourite is 80's Grooves, Although the South African House which i mix here is constantly in my mp3 player. With my music mix's i try to give as much of my soul in it, so when it finishes your mood and your joy is heightened.
