Recess has been in a long term love affair with Seattle’s underground music scene for the past couple of decades. In the late 80′s he found his second home at the long defunct Club Underground in Seattle’s University District (along with DJ Dominator aka Donald Glaude, DJ Dan and many others). During the 90s he bounced between raves, rock shows and jazz clubs appreciating the passion and community behind the scenes. Using these early experiences as a platform, he started collecting records and honing his skills at various clubs around the Northwest; quickly establishing himself as a formidable performer. In 2003 he founded Shameless Productions (responsible for numerous underground club nights, parties and shenanigans such as Broken Disco, ‘My Bloody Valentine is Shameless’, Electric Avenue, Balls Out, Say What?!, BootyLIB, official Decibel Festival afterparties/showcases, Photosynthesis 2010 and many local one offs across genres with artists such as Modeselektor, Drop the Lime, Egyptian Lover, James Holden, Smash TV, Brodinski, The Flashbulb, Kid 606, DJ Godfather, Para One, Martin Brothers & Tittsworth). Along the way Recess continued to turn heads as a DJ with his constantly evolving and unique take on dance music. Over the years he has played alongside some of the biggest names in the industry such as Green Velvet, Boys Noize, Felix Da Housecat, Claude Von Stroke, Jesse Rose, MSTRKRFT, Zombie Nation, John Tejada, Meat Katie, DJ Assault, Ewan Pearson to name a few. As a DJ, Recess could quite easily be caught playing electro/disco at one club, bmore club/ghetto tech at another, or techno/house/bass depending upon the crowd and party. A leader in Seattle’s electronic community, his versatility has led to being nominated in 2006 for the Seattle Weekly’s Best Local DJ contest. Currently, he’s focusing more attention on production, but continues to play out often and produce events regularly. Whether it’s an afterhours loft space, major club, mountaintop, or random BASSment; Recess consistently brings the sounds and energy to fit any dance party.

Hello Party People! I am DJ SoulSh@ker, DJ Emi@L older name (Emile Banen). From the 80's i was fascinated to listen mixes on radio 3 The BVD (Bond van Doorstarters) So i thought i can do this too. Make cut and past mixes on The Akai GX-635D reel to reel tapedeck with 10" Maxell alluminium reels. After that i was fascinated to mix music on old audio and vintage DJ Gear. Repair them if it doesn't work. And sell them if i had enough of it. First mixes what i made where broadcasted on radio 538 "The Dance Top 40" in 1997. I recorded the mixes and jingles (With my own voice) on tape (Tape decks) and later on 386 computers. And after that on MD'.s (Minidiscs). Also i have make enough homemade projects like amplifiers, speakers and 3mtr transmitters. (Yes i was a pirate on the radio in the 90's) with many school and outside friends. Numark TT 1910 Direct drive turntables (Shit i know but i've had em for over 10 years and they still work better than most new numark turntables on the market at the mo) Numark DM 1100SE Performance series mixer (Another antique lol but i learnt to mix on this and wouldn't give it up for the world). Virtual DJ Pro Infinity 8, and have just added a Numark Mixtrack Platinum to my collection, awesome controller. Have also just got a pair of Numark NDX 400's, great cd decks.
