Hi im djboabspence
As a DJ im known for my hard hitting club DJ sets in the hard, Rhythmic Noise, Hardstyle, Aggrotech & Industrial Dance genres.
Breaking down boundaries in the Electronic music fields on dance floors while trying to promote myself to the best lables and artists,
i find music is what motivates me the most after all u gota have the passion in this buisness.
Originally from Glasgow, I sold my soul to raise enough money to buy my first Technics 1210’s
sum years ago.
since then iv had a numerous amount of them, seem to keep breaking them lol
They took my passion for music to a new level,
Not in the normal way that you enjoy spinning a few tunes, but in the obsessive way that means “real life” goes out of the window.
After a few years locked away in my bedroom, only coming out to buy records, new cross faders and new needles,
i emerged, pale and skinny, but ready to take on the world.
(my dad accused me once of “getting through more needles than a junkey),
Im a Nu Skool DJ with Old Skool Values.
and i approach a DJ set in the same way as Grandmaster Flash did in the late seventies,
Its all about rocking the block by using some serious DJ techniques, having stage presence and playing records you’ve never heard before…
I have DJ skills to scream from the rooftops about. and my scratching is up there with a DMC champion, my beat mixing outshines any ordinary DJ and my cutting puts showtek and prophet in the shade.
i am a true battle DJ, a turntablist who brings my talents to hard-edged techno music,
It is not, however, all about the scratching….
Where tricks can lift and inspire a crowd, DJ’ing is essentially all about the vinyl…
If you cut me i do not bleed blood – i bleeds vinyl. An obsessive collector of the latest and oldest vinyl
i have a pretty basic philosophy on the music i play… if it rocks, play it.
I am not constrained by hypothetical labels, although im always playing on the harder edges of the hardstyle genre
i pull in tracks from all over the spectrum – hard trance, hard house, hardstyle… Tracks from all over the world –
I have even been known to drop some fat breaks /hip-hop /samples /vox half way through a set.
“No CDJ’s, No Laptops – Flair, talent and dedication makes them irrelevant”
Something a lot of DJ’s forget about is the stage presence, its the whole performance that counts.
So what is next for me?
My DJ diary is filling up for the rest of the year, studio time is booked, some big name collaborations are organised and Well, that would be telling.
